Knights Assist With St Michael Potluck

Four Knights from Council 11369 helped serve pop and water at the annual St Michael Parish Potluck Dinner on September 28th.

The also assisted the parish Men’s Club in cooking hot dogs for the event.

About 200 people attended.

Families Enjoy 2025 Council Picnic

A total of 31 Knights, wives and family members enjoyed picnic food and conversation at the annual Council 11369 picnic at Chestnut Hill Pavilion on Friday, August 8th.

We feasted on hamburgers, sausage and corn on the cob, and plenty of other delectable side dished and desserts provided by members.

Five members of the family of St Paul Monastery joined us as well.

The kids enjoyed the playground, and the weather was nearly perfect.

Thanks to Brother Mark Curtis for organizing everything and doing a fine job at the grill.

Thanks as well to Mark’s better half Karen for getting everything together and keeping us on time.

Thanks as well to Brother Ray Novotny for his inspiring song and prayer before dinner.

Measure Up Money for Potential Development

As seen in the above picture, Council 11369 GK Vic Buente passes along a check for $200 to Potential Development High School Principal Katie Patridis.

The money is part of the $250 2024 donation, with 20-percent of the funding going to the state and Special Olympics.

We’re happy again this year to share the proceeds of the Measure Up campaign with Potential Development.

Knights, Families Enjoy Annual Picnic at Park

On Friday August 16th, about two dozen Knights and their wives braved the unpredictable weather and made the annual Council 11369 picnic a success.

Among those of course were Father Matthew and the brothers from St Paul Monastery.

A first-time attendee was Henry Tulachka, young son of Jake and Amanda Tulachka.

Everyone wanted their chance to hold the baby!

Picnic organizer Mark Curtis was also the head chef!

Great job Mark with the sausage sandwiches and burgers.

There was thunder and light rain just before the picnic started, but then the sun came out for the duration.

With God’s blessings, a great day!

11369, St Paul Host Local Silver Rose Service

About ten Knights attended the recent Silver Rose Service at the chapel at St Paul Monastery in Ellsworth Twp.

Father Matthew was our presider.

There were prayers and the recitation of the Rosary.

The Silver Rose is depicted above.

Billboard is Back!

After many months without signage, our Life Billboard depicts messages once again!

The sign along I-680 sports the signs that Mahoning County Right to Life paid for, having been repaired after they failed last October.

Our thanks to Rick Madeline for climbing up there and doing the work.

Thanks as well to GK Vic Buente and Brother Paul Witkowski for getting the ball rolling on this.

Dick Gregg 1933-2024

It’s with sadness that we note the passing of Brother Dick Gregg, a very active member of Council 11369 for several years.

Dick died February 12th at his home.

He is pictured above on the right.

He is pictured above, second from the right, at the dedication of the council’s Right to Life Billboard along I-680 and behind St Luke Parish in 2010.

Sadly, five of the eight men pictured including then-Bishop of Youngstown George Murry are no longer with us.

We know they are all with the Lord in heaven.

DICK GREGG’S STORY WITH THE KNIGHTS

Dick joined the Knights in 2004, becoming active immediately.

Above, Dick is speaking with Congressman Tim Ryan at one of our summer picnics at St Paul Monastery.

At that time, Ryan was a member of the Democrats for Life organization.

My apologies for the quality of some pictures, taken from printed monthly newsletters that predated the website.

I’m so thankful for Dick’s council work at bingo nights, spaghetti dinners, pancake breakfasts, raffle ticket sales and of course our annual Thanksgiving and Christmas food drives.

He lived his faith, speaking with real conviction on life issues.

He even traveled with the late Brother Paschal to Washington DC for several of the annual March for Life events that Brother Paschal attended faithfully for so many years.

There will be a Calling Hours for Dick at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield chapel Tuesday February 27 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.

A memorial service follows there at 11 a.m.

K of C Joins Men’s Club to Support YFF Epiphany Breakfast

Eight Council 11369 members (plus one K of C daughter, thanks Lily) served up pancakes, sausage, coffee, juice and milk for about 250 children and parents in the St Michael Youth Faith Formation classes on Sunday, January 7.

The Epiphany Breakfast was a return from Christmas break for the students and a great way to combine the K of C and St Michael’s Men’s Club in a cooperative effort.

And we were busy! Kids and adults alike were chowing down and drinking plenty of refreshments!

Great thanks goes to Brother Mark Curtis for getting us all together and organizing the event.

Here’s hoping we’re back again next year!

25 Enjoy Christmas Dinner, Song

About 10 Knights and their wives got together for Christmas dinner on January 3rd at A La Cart Catering in Canfield.

Brothers Ed, Marco and John from the Pauline community in Ellsworth Township also joined us.

So did Msgr Robert Siffrin, representing Bishop David Bonnar.

So wonderful to have him with us.

All the clergy are, of course, Knights members.

We feasted on chicken, fish, beef, potatoes and salad.

Some terrific desserts too!

As seen in the above picture, we also sand Christmas carols.

Always a great evet!
