LESS THAN A WEEK Until Raffle Ticket Turn-In

Attention Brother Knights: Ticket turn-in is fast approaching this coming Wednesday.

I realize this is a challenging time; I hope you can buy your ticket allotment or sell to family members.

We have over 550 sold, but our goal is 1130. It’ll truly be a miracle if we can do it!

Again, ticket stubs and money must be turned in to Jim Krivanek by April 15. The actual drawing will still be on May 16 at the virtual state convention.

You can mail ticket stubs and a check to Jim at:
34 Timber Run Ct
Canfield, OH 44406

Or drop tickets off at St Michaels and place in the K of C mailbox (checks only please).

Or call 330-507-7427 and leave a message. Or email. I will pick them up off your porch or whatever designated location you provide.

UPDATE: 2020 K of C Cash Bonanza Charity Raffle

UPDATE: The council is suspending organized ticket sales events at the doors of the churches. Our worthy Grand Knight has made this decision based on information on COVID-19 provided by fraternal.

We still hope Brother Knights can buy tickets or sell them while remaining safe.

Here’s some ticket information:

For our wonderful customers:

Please support our biggest fundraiser for charity, and you might win a great cash prize.

Here are just five of the things your raffle ticket purchase supports:

1. The Knights donated more than 200 hams to the Rescue Mission, Beatitude House, St Vincent DePaul and more for Christmas. It’s a holiday tradition for us!

2. Our council rebates 15% of the net proceeds to St Michael Parish and St Paul Monastery.

3. The K of C gives rosaries to all First Communicants at St Michael.

4. Ohio seminarians including the 20 men from the Diocese of Youngstown receive cash Christmas gifts, allowing them to purchase gifts for family members.

5. At one time, this raffle involved lifetime prizes. There are still four winners who receive monthly prizes for the rest of their lives.

Check out fun raffle facts in the weekly St Michael bulletin.

Council Supports St Paul Group in Fundraising Effort

In its 75 years in the Canfield and Ellsworth Township community, the Catholic brothers and priests with the Society of St Paul at St Paul’s Monastery on Route 224 have never asked for donations.

That has changed, as the Supporters of St Paul’s Monastery is behind a $10,000 upgrade to the main building’s heating system.

To that end, there will be a party at Dino’s Restaurant at 10941 Mahoning Avenue in North Jackson on Big Game Sunday, February 2.

The Knights of Columbus Council 11369 is supporting this fundraiser.

The restaurant will be open exclusively for this event.

There will be several big-screen TVs.

Doors open at 5 p.m.

Plenty of food, beer, wine, coffee and more will be available.
Tickets are $50.00.

You can mail a check made payable to Society of St Paul to: St Paul Monastery, P.O. Box 595, Canfield, OH 44406.

Please include your name and contact information.

All proceeds go to the non-profit society.

Donations are also being accepted.

Questions, please call Rick at 330-719-0101 or Dee at 330-360-6775.

Or you can email the monastery or Father Matthew

Knights Celebrate Christmas, Remember Brother Paschal

25 Knights and their wives enjoyed a wonderful Christmas party at Dino’s Restaurant in North Jackson on Friday, December 13.

Tia Ciferno from the Bella Women’s Center in Niles was there to provide musical entertainment.

She and her story were both a huge hit!

Tia Ciferno

Father Roehrig (above) and others led us in festive song as well.

And the menu was terrific!

Certainly, though, our thoughts at all times were with our brother, Brother Paschal.

Knights, Other Canfield Organizations Feed 140 for Thanksgiving

Below is the press release for the just-ended Andy Skrobola Memorial Holiday Food Drive.

Our K of C council will continue the effort with a food distribution to a shorter list of needy families on Saturday December 14th at St Paul Monastery.

Around 200 hams will be donated to food-related charities in Youngstown.

Another Andy Skrobola Memorial Holiday Food Drive has come to an end, and it was an overwhelming success.

40 families consisting of about 140 people were fed for a week at Thanksgiving.

Families also received turkey and grocery vouchers.

The annual food drive is a combined effort of the Canfield Lions, the Knights of Columbus, Canfield Community Care Net, Canfield Rotary and the Canfield High School Leos Club.

Canfield residents filled grocery bags with non-perishable food and other items.

The Lions, Leos and Knights dropped bags at 5,000 area homes, and the Leos picked up the filled bags.

Township residents brought their filled bags to one of the three local fire stations.

The Lions purchased the turkey vouchers, Community Care Net provided food vouchers, and the Rotary Club provided winter coats.

Food Drive Chairman Phil Bova said, “Each family received between $100 and $250 in vouchers depending upon the number of individuals in the family. We thank the community, for making this worthwhile endeavor possible.”

Council Mourns Losses of Brother Paschal and Father Jeff

11369 Brothers Father Jeff Mickler and Brother John “Paschal” Duesman died on Wednesday November 20 at St Paul Monastery.

We are shocked in our sorrow at this time, to be consoled by the knowledge that they are with our Heavenly Father and with Christ Jesus.

Brother Paschal was the longtime “Culture of Life” committee chairman for our council.

He was the driving force behind the Right to Life billboard now seen along I-680 between Midlothian Blvd and Rt 224.

Father Jeff was so eloquent and knowledgeable about our faith and its history.

Calling hours for both Father and Brother are Monday November 25, 2019 from 4:00pm till 8:00pm.

Rosary at 7:30pm.

A combined Funeral Mass is Tuesday November 26, 2019 Mass at 11:00am.

Final calling hours that morning are 10:00am till 11:00am.

Father Mickler will be buried at St. Paul’s cemetery immediately after Mass.

Luncheon to follow.

Brother Paschal will have an additional Funeral Mass either Monday or Tuesday Dec 2 or Dec 3 at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Church, 105 A Ave., Elgin , Oklahoma 73538

He will be buried there.

Council Sells More Crazr Tickets

Council 11369 exceeded its ticket sales figures for 2018 by selling 140 Football Crazr tickets this year!

That’s 32 more tickets than last year!

We’ll update you later as per the amount of money the council is getting back from the state.

Meantime, we’ll hope for a few local winners.

Good job Brother Knights!

Knights Assist with Andy Skrobola Food Drive

It’s time again for the Andy Skrobola Memorial Holiday Food Drive!

We’re working again with the Canfield Lions Club, and Canfield Community CareNet to provide a week’s worth of food to local needy families.

With the flooding in so many homes this spring, we believe the need will be great.

A few changes this year: there’s just one food distribution, for Thanksgiving.

The Knights will still supply hams for Christmas.

And the food will be organized and distributed inside the St Michael Family Life Center.

Here are some key dates:

Sat Nov 26: Distribution of empty grocery bags in neighborhoods in Canfield Township.

Sat Nov 9: Food brought to fire stations and to Family Life Center.

Sat Nov 16: Distribution of food.

Sun Nov 17, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.: Pancake breakfast at St Michael Church Hall in support of hams for Christmas.

Knights Provide Pop, Water at St Michael Picnic

Once again on September 29th, the Knights of Columbus will provide pop and water to the St Michael parishioners attending the Parish Picnic.

The K of C is glad to join other parish organizations that have the funding to supply food and beverages at the annual event.

The picnic is from 12 noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday September 29th.

Any Knights who can lend a hand pouring the pop are welcome to attend.
